Who would have thought that a declaration of love for the Queen and literature could blend so perfectly? It’s all thanks to the dogs. During a stroll with the Queen, they dash off to bark at the county library’s bookmobile, which happens to be parked in one of the palace courtyards. Out of courtesy, the Queen apologises to the librarian, and, to be polite, borrows a book – only to discover a passion for reading.
The ripple effects of the Queen’s sudden literary appetite shake Buckingham Palace to its core, leaving not a dry eye in the audience.

How far do you have to travel to be away? How long will it take to walk there? Travellers are always on the lookout for stories, encounters and people. Where is the accordionist who was playing outside the bistro the other day? Where have the Viennese girl’s lofty dreams taken her? Where can you find refuge from the nightmares, whether it’s the haunting figure of a child murderer or the solitary suitcase left in the grounds of a concentration camp? Actress and singer Nicole Beutler takes audiences on a musical and theatrical journey with her show “Wer weiß, wo ich schon morgen bin” (Who Knows Where I'll Be Tomorrow), alongside the talented musicians of the Viennese theatre. Jacques Brel, Patrick Bruel, Randy Newman, Serge Gainsbourgh and Udo Lindenberg accompany them with their songs and stories.

With his signature narrative flair, Michael Köhlmeier brings to life the icons and legends of our time. He recounts why the legendary jazz pianist Thelonious Monk went to prison for a friend, how a chess duel unfolded between the greats Bob Dylan and Bobby Fischer, and shares stories of Marilyn Monroe, Max Schmeling, Ignaz Semmelweis, and the first lady of jazz, Ella Fitzgerald. Köhlmeier’s modern-day heroic tales, though grounded in fact, are artfully woven in a literary style. They explore themes of genius, madness, life’s illusions and extraordinary moments. These captivating stories will be enhanced by the jazz sounds of pianist Martin Gasselsberger and saxophonist Klaus Dickbauer.

Shakespeare’s renowned comedy has captivated audiences for centuries, taking them into a magical realm filled with intrigue, romantic entanglements and fairy beings. Marie-Luise Stockinger, Michael Maertens and Daniel Keberle craft an exceptional Shakespearean evening, intertwining the most delightful scenes with enchanting confusions and profound monologues from the comedy set in ancient Athens and the neighbouring enchanted forest to form a dazzling mosaic. This is complemented by the beautiful, ethereal music of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, performed by the piano duo Silver-Garburg.
