A hymn for Eutopia
A musical about Europe, and how Europe could be
Ludwig van Beethoven — appearing here as a ghost — hides the manuscript of his world-famous composition “Ode to Joy”, the European hymn. Since the hymn represents the constitution on which EUtopia is founded, utter chaos looms. All that Beethoven really wants is for people to finally become reasonable! But for this he needs help — and perhaps surprisingly, he finds it in Henriette, an unassuming librarian. Can she play a trick on the “Gravediggers’ Club”, who want to do away with the hymn altogether? And can she succeed in her quest to have the “Ode to Joy” ringing out loud and clear once more? She’ll need some help from the audience, that’s for sure!
