Jo und die Zauberblume (Jo and the Magic Flower – in German)
A Wiener Taschenoper production, co-produced by Musiktheater Linz
Every day, an old sorceress changes herself into a cat or an owl. And when children get too close to her castle, she stops them in their tracks and changes them into birds. But a flower grows there which has magical powers – and that brings the possibility of a happy ending.
This children’s opera is based on the fairy tale “Jorinde and Joringel” by the Brothers Grimm. It tells of the strong bond of friendship between a boy and a girl, and of how, with courage and personal commitment, anything is possible.
