New World Dreams
An evening of symphonic wind music, with works ranging from Antonín Dvorák to John Williams
Two youth symphonic wind bands – one from Lucerne, one from Vienna – join forces in a this concert. The programme features works by Antonín Dvorák, Gustav Holst, John Williams, Daniel Muck and James Barnes. The latter’s Fourth Symphony, which he titled “Yellowstone Portraits”, paints a powerful portrait of the USA’s most famous National Park in all its beauty. Over the course of three movements he depicts the prevailing morning mood, describes a startled herd of prairie antelope, and paints a musical picture of this most majestic landscape.
