Timna Brauer reads Arik Brauer (in German)
And Elias Meiri plays piano
Timna Brauer, daughter of Arik Brauer, presents some of her father’s recollections, taken from his autobiography “Die Farben meines Lebens”, published by Amalthea-Verlag. This is a blend of contemporary chronicles and cultural history; tales from a man who has wandered between different worlds. Curious happenings are interspersed with reflections on society, while imagination and reality merge to form a vivid portrait. The book can be viewed as a form of wide-ranging Panopticon. This reading provides an emotional and touching insight into the life and work of the multi-talented artist, who celebrated his 90th birthday in January 2019.
At the piano, Elias Meiri plays some of Arik Brauer’s best-loved melodies – reminding us that his Wiener Lieder have remained popular to the present day
