COVID-19: Information for visitors
Tue, 13. October 2020
We regret that the theatre will now be closed until the end of November, in line with the Federal Government’s latest regulations on cultural events. We look forward to the time when we can all return to MuTh.
Meanwhile we hope to stay in touch with you regardless, through our online offerings. We’re working hard on our digital offer and will provide details on this very soon.
Over the coming days, we will let you know which events have been cancelled and which have been postponed:
If you have purchased a ticket for a November production from us at the theatre, we will contact you in the next few days about your refund. If an event has been postponed, your ticket will remain valid for the rescheduled date.
Our Box Office remains open during the usual hours: Monday to Friday, 4pm to 6:30pm
Our phone lines are open: Monday to Friday, 10am to 6:30pm
Ticket sales hotline: +43 1 347 80 80
All the best from everyone at MuTh.
How do I get my tickets?
To help us ensure a steady flow of visitors through the venue on the evening of the performance, we recommend that you buy your tickets online at muth.at/programm/kalender/ and collect them from the Box Office in advance. Alternatively, we will be happy to send your tickets by post on request.
Of course, you can still order your tickets over the phone and pay by credit card, or buy them in person at the Box Office.
You can book tickets for groups of up to ten people (seated together, with no empty seats required between group members) up until the day before the performance. These group bookings can be made by telephone, by e-mail, or in person at the Box Office. On the day of the performance you can only buy tickets for seats that are available under the chequered-pattern seating arrangement used for social distancing.
With immediate effect, you must provide your contact details when buying tickets. We ask you to bring photo ID when visiting the venue.
If we were not provided with the necessary data when the ticket was sold, we will collect visitor names and contact details on a list in the Foyer. To facilitate contact tracing if a case of infection is identified, and in compliance with the recommendations of the COVID-19 Prevention Strategy for Artistic and Cultural Events, we will retain this register of visitors for a period of 28 days, .
We don’t want to change your booking, but…
Rebooked events and postponed performances?
So that we can comply with stipulations regarding the minimum distance permitted between seats, we have had to change our seating plans for all those productions which were originally scheduled for last season and have since been postponed to the new season. We are making every effort to re-book seats for the same price category as the original booking. We will contact those ticket holders who are affected by these changes.
Please check our website for the current date and time for the performance you have booked.
Please play your part! What you need to do to help ensure a safe experience for everybody
We ask that you bring a face mask to cover your nose and mouth. This must be worn when entering the theatre and throughout the building, including in the Concert Hall during the performance. If visiting the café, you may remove your face mask once you have reached your table. If necessary, you can obtain a face mask from the Box Office.
Furthermore, while you are in MuTh we ask that you maintain the minimum distance of one metre from any people who do not live with you in the same household, as stipulated by law.
In order to avoid overcrowding, we ask you to arrive early – no later than 15 minutes before the performance starts.
We’re all about music and theatre – in a safe environment!
To manage visitor flows and ensure that social distancing is maintained, we may operate separate entrances, separate Box Office areas and separate cloakrooms. Arrangements will depend on visitor numbers, Please enter MuTh through your designated entrance and use the appropriate Box Office and cloakroom facilities. We will inform you of the details by e-mail a few days before the performance.

Within the Concert Hall audience members are separated under a chequer-pattern seating plan. This complies with with social distancing regulations, and provides visitors with generous spacing by suspending every second seat.
Feverishly excited? Or could it be more than that?
There is always another day. If you feel unwell, we would ask you to stay at home and visit us another time.
In our Foyer we have contactless equipment to take your temperature. This is available for you to use – on a voluntary basis – for your own peace of mind.
Our staff are of course available to help you in every area. For their part, they are instructed to observe and comply with all necessary precautions.
These measures are based on a safety protocol that we have developed for our productions with effect from September 2020.
