7th Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival 2013

* abgespielt

This year the 7th Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival is bringing over a thousand children and young people to Vienna. They are coming from each and every continent to share their music and their cultures and to take part in the competition. On 7th and 8th July 2013, selected orchestras will perform at MuTh as part of the SCL Festival.

The Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival is organised by VIA MUSICA (the Vienna International Association for Music and Culture Exchange). This is its seventh year, and it will take place from 6th to 10th July 2013. In its first year there were two principal desires expressed for the Festival. And to date, these two aims have been achieved time and time again: to provide a platform which offers unique performance opportunities to the world’s most talented choirs, bands and orchestras; and to set new standards in the world of festivals.

Much has been done since then, and every year the SCL Festival has not relaxed its constant efforts to maintain the the high standard of the organising committee, the jury and especially of the festival participants.

Although it is currently held over just four days, the SCL Festival is a continuous project which aims to facilitate unique experiences every year. For this reason, the artistic programme is modified annually – whether to celebrate the anniversary of a famous composer, or to focus on a particular musical theme. Furthermore, each year new and exciting concert venues in and around Vienna are added to the Festival – for example, this year’s performance locations include MuTh, the home of the Vienna Boys’ Choir.

In the years since its inception, the SCL Festival has won broad support from the Austrian public as well as from numerous national and international decision-makers in the fields of politics and culture. In addition, close relationships have been established with foreign Embassies and international organisations. This enables us to make our participants welcome in an atmosphere which is truly international.

Finally, the real focus of the Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival is as follows: to create an environment in which young musicians from around the world can interact at an international level and build bridges between themselves.
