Amadinda Uganda
A unique sound experience and a musical conversation – with Uni Percussion Wien

* abgespielt

The AMADINDA UGANDA ensemble has a mission to share music from the pre-colonial kingdom of Buganda, music which – despite being banned during the rule of Idi Amin – survived underground and can still be heard in Uganda today. The main instrument is the akadinda, a xylophone with twelve bars. Three musicians play a single instrument at the same time, using two mallets each. The interlocking patterns of striking create sounds that amaze listeners from the northern hemisphere. This is the first time the Amadinda Uganda ensemble has visited Europe with the present line-up. These concerts also feature classical music from the courts of the Baganda, as well as contemporary compositions. Tickets: €20 €; students €12
