Bartolomeys in the MuTh
With Peter Simonischek, reading from Thomas Bernhard’s "Meine Preise” (My Awards)

* abgespielt

“Meine Preise” was first published in 2009 Thomas Bernhard completed the manuscript in 1980, but the book was not published in his lifetime. Bernhard fans can expect to hear some brilliant prose humour matching the best of his artistic output. Various award events are described in a manner which is both biting and ironically self-deprecating. These include the author’s acceptance speech at the presentation of the “Kleinen Staatspreis”, a speech which went down in literary history. Bernhard caused something of a sensation, partly by describing Austrian people in general as “creatures of agony” …

Typical Viennese music accompanies each of the individual prizes as the celebrated Austrian actor Peter Simonischek lends his incomparable voice to that “Champion Insulter of the Austrian Nation”, Thomas Bernhard.
