On 2nd May 2013, MuTh will play host to the Vienna Volksoper for the very first time. This collaboration between two of the city’s major cultural institutions will continue in the form of a musical theatre production in the coming season.

The actress and Nestroy Award winner Katharina Strasser, who has been a regular performer at the Volksoper since 2008 as the female lead in “My Fair Lady”, starts the piece with readings from Ludwig Tieck’s “Liebesgeschichte der schönen Magelone” (“The love story of beautiful Magelone”). The tenor Jörg Schneider, a former member of the Vienna Boys’ Choir and a member of the Volksoper ensemble since 2007, performs fifteen romances from Tieck’s “Magelone”, as set to music by Johannes Brahms in 1865.
