Frank Sinatra Gala: A Tribute to “The Voice”
G'mischter Satz (a blended vintage) in the MuTh

* abgespielt

In this two-hour show Christoph Schobesberger recreates the life of the 20th century’s greatest entertainer through a range of anecdotes and thirty of his songs. Sinatra’s ups and downs, his hugely successful comebacks, his affairs and his marital dramas, his involvement with the Mafia and politics – here is the musician’s complete life, lived against the musical backdrop of songs such as “New York, New York“, “My Way” and “Strangers in the Night”. Schobesberger — who is incidentally a former Vienna Boys’ Choir chorister — is accompanied in his guise as Frankie Boy by an All Star Big Band composed of jazz musicians from Salzburg. Led by Prof. Egon Achatz, these guys can really swing. His duet partner is Eva Hinterreithner of “Vienna Swing Sisters” fame. “For me, Frank Sinatra was the Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau of Swing”, says Schobesberger. “His interpretations were always rooted in the words of the song, and sometimes – if necessary – he would forgo a beautiful high tone for the sake of the lyric.”

The hits of Frank Sinatra, performed in original arrangements written by Nelson Riddle, Count Basie and Quincy Jones
