Georg Büchner’s “Lenz” (German language)
In an adaption by Joseph Lorenz

* abgespielt

Joseph Lorenz has completely reworked this German literature masterpiece into a reading which is as engrossing as it is entertaining. This is the story of a writer named Lenz and his descent into madness – a story which Lorenz has successfully condensed into this compact version. Bass clarinettist and composer Ulrich Drechsler creates a fitting musical framework. Performing here on the large bass clarinet and the seldom-heard basset horn, his playing complements the power of the piece – providing commentary, creating connections and broadening the canvas. This sets the atmosphere perfectly for the text, which is read by Joseph Lorenz.
