H.C. Artmann: “Med ana schwoazzn Dintn”

In the years since 1958, when Artmann’s first book came out – a collection of poems entitled “med ana schwoazzn dintn” – his stature has grown from being a well-guarded secret among Vienna’s avant-garde to one of the brightest stars in the German-speaking literary world. It is said that, when the author started to give readings in person, the public responded enthusiastically and audiences exceeded venue capacities. Florian Teichtmeister, a rising star on the Austrian film and theatre scene, tackles these “gedichta aus bradnsee” with great passion. Who can forget “I kiss your hand Madame”, memorably sung by Marlene Dietrich, Bing Crosby and Richard Tauber, or “It was fascination, I know” from Billy Wilder’s Film “Love in the Afternoon”. Here these melodies, along with many other old favourites, can be heard once again – this time on Franz Bartolomey’s cello! The irresistible counterpoint!
