Innehalten (Pause for Reflection) — “Mission”
Words and Music / Vienna Boys' Choir / Werner Schneyder

* abgespielt

Following last season’s success, the Innehalten series makes a welcome return!

Sacred music has always been an essential part of every boy choir’s repertoire. The Vienna Boys’ Choir and the Vienna Hofmusikkapelle were established for the purpose of singing Mass (sometimes several Masses) every day. Performing music by Josquin, Isaac or de Monte, the musicians had to cater for the spiritual well-being of the emperor and, indeed, of the whole court. The Vienna Boys’ Choir and MuTh invite performers and audience members alike to join us in Innehalten, a conscious pause in the hurly-burly of daily life.

This highly successful series is now in its third season, and this time comprises four concerts. In its first year the series touched on faith, hope and love, while the second season contemplated despair, courage and fear. This year the series once again addresses subjects of topical relevance. Together with the Vienna Boys’ Choir and the audience, Martin Puntigam, Maria Rauch-Kallat and Werner Schneyder reflect on the  themes of “Implosion and explosion”, “Inclusion”, “Vision” and “Mission” — both impossible and possible.

To accompany this, the Choir will perform sacred music and music with  philosophical connections from a variety of cultures. In addition, we at MuTh invite you to join in a “fellowship meal” of bread with water, fruit juice or wine.

These shared experiences tend to stay with us.
