Las mujeres y las cuerdas
An evening of Spanish song

* abgespielt

Two fine musicians – the Spanish soprano, Lucia Castelló, now living in Vienna, and the guitarist Brigitta Soó – will cover a broad range of Spanish musical literature stretching from the 18th to the 20th century. They play masterpieces for voice and guitar: arrangements of folk songs by the important poet and musician Federico García Lorca; the famous “Siete canciones populares españolas”, one of the best-known works by Manuel de Falla; the Seguidillas by the romantic composer Fernando Sor; and works by Joaquin Rodrigo. In Spain, the link between folk music and art music has a long tradition. Classical composers were influenced as much by the songs and dances of the Iberian peninsula as they were by the sound of that folk instrument par excellence, the guitar. To bring us even closer to the Spanish soul, the composers themselves – played and brought back to life by Roman Müller and Daniel Torrón Mack – will guide us through the evening. Beguiling our imagination, they will transport us across time and place All this will be perfectly complemented and underpinned by performances from the fine Spanish dancer Asunción Castelló. Come and enjoy a very special evening of song. School performance: €5 Evening performance: €23/18/12; box seats €28; children, students and senior citizens: €12
