Love and death in Schönberg and Zemlinsky
Jungen Philharmonie Wien / conductor: Michael Lessky / Soloist: Ildikó Raimondi, soprano

* abgespielt

The result of a collaboration with the Zemlinsky-Fund and the Arnold Schönberg Center, this evening’s concert is a performance of Alexander von Zemlinsky’s rarely-heard Maeterlinck songs and Arnold Schönberg’s highly romantic symphonic poem “Pelléas und Mélisande”, also based on Maeterlinck.

An educational programme in Viennese schools is helping this music to reach, in particular, a young audience here in Vienna.

As a matter of interest, both composers grew up in Leopoldstadt, close to MuTh: Zemlinsky in Novaragasse and Schönberg in Oberen Donaustraße.

Six songs based on texts by Maurice Maeterlinck, Op. 13

Pelléas und Mélisande, Op. 5

In collaboration with the Zemlinsky Fund and the Arnold Schönberg Center

Tickets: €45/39/32, box seats €55, young people €20/16/14
