Masterpieces for string quartet: Rosamunde
Minetti Quartet in the MuTh

* abgespielt

Following on from “Death and the Maiden” and the G major Quartet, we hear the Minetti Quartet in this new cycle with the third of Schubert’s great works from his late period. “Rosamunde” was the Viennese composer’s only string quartet to be performed in public during his lifetime. It has an enchanting, songlike quality and, as one of Schubert’s friends put it, a “pure and tender” sound. Two pieces by Haydn and Debussy – each a stroke of genius – complete the evening’s programme.

Joseph Haydn: String Quartet No. 48 in F major, Op. 50.5, “The Dream”
Claude Debussy: String Quartet in G minor, Op. 10
Franz Schubert: String Quartet No. 13 in A minor, ”Rosamunde”, D 804
