Bettina Gradinger, Eszter Haffner & Franz Bartolomey play Beethoven, Francaix & Mozart
The finely-balanced interplay of three string instruments must be one of the most beautiful sounds in chamber music. The three works in this programme could hardly be more different. Beethoven offers clarity and a huge capacity for expression; in Francaix, we hear exceptional wit and humour; and in Mozart we find a seemingly boundless wealth of imagination. Standing on the stage alongside Franz Bartolomey are two ladies who have shared his passion for chamber music for many years: Bettina Gradinger, the first female Concertmaster of the Vienna Volksoper, and Eszter Haffner, international soloist and respected teacher.
Programme:
Ludwig van Beethoven: String Quartet in D major, Op. 8
Jean Francaix: String Trio (1933)
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Divertimento in E flat major, KV 563
