Opera for the novice and the expert
Caroline Wenborne and the Wiener Grabenensemble
* abgespielt
This concert provides a short tour of the world of opera, taking in the five giants of the genre: Mozart, Verdi, Wagner, Puccini and Strauss. The great soprano arias are contrasted with significant instrumental pieces from operatic literature: overtures, interludes and entr’actes.
The Australian soprano Caroline Wenborne has been a regular ensemble member of the Wiener Staatsoper since 2007. The new line-up of the Wiener Grabenensemble comprises Dominik Hellsberg and Adela Frasineanu (violins), Robert Bauerstatter and Gerhard Marschner (violas), Peter Somodari and Raphael Flieder (cellos) and Ursula Fatton (harp).
