Operetta – a journey back to a time of joy
Tenor and Grammy-prizewinner Lippert and his Philharmonic friends / Benefit in aid of the Samaritans Federation’s Santa Claus Train

* abgespielt

Composers in the “silver era” of the operetta were the pop stars of their time. They wrote hit tunes which everybody knew. Their creations ensured that the theatres were full and a party mood prevailed.

But soon their compositions began to be forgotten, their art was no longer valued, and many were no longer welcome in the land of their birth. Austrian tenor and Grammy-prizewinner Herbert Lippert and his Philharmonic friends embark on an exciting journey. They take us to a “land of smiles”, the Austro-Hungarian Empire’s main metropolis, where dancing the waltz was all the rage.

Samaritans Federation Santa Claus Train
Bright-eyed children, cheeks flushed with excitement – this is probably the best present of all for the numerous volunteer helpers on the “Santa Claus Train” organised by the Austrian Workers’ Samaritans Federation. This is the fifteenth year that the Samaritans Federation has laid on the Santa Claus Train for children who are having a tough time of it. This year, the special train will be taking the children (and those looking after them) to Gmunden on Lake Traunsee. An extensive range of activities awaits them there. Of course, the high point will be a visit by Santa Claus, who will give each of the children a little sack of presents.

The Santa Claus Train doesn’t cost the children anything; the event is made possible by important partners from the business world. The proceeds from the operetta evening go to children in need, enabling them to spend an unforgettable weekend with the Samaritans Federation’s Santa Claus Train.
