Pasión Tango – The Story
In aid of the “Get a Hearing” initiative for children with hearing loss

* abgespielt

A left hook! The full force of Astor Piazzolla’s fist lands on his opponent’s chin. This in broad daylight, right in the middle of the bustling traffic of Buenos Aires. From being a youngster on the streets of New York, he had to use his fists to make his way. Now, as an adult, he has to fight his own countrymen, the Argentinians, and overcome their hatred of his “Tango Nuevo”. Becoming a tanguero had never been part of his plans. The music closest to his heart had always been Bach and jazz. He wanted to be a classical composer. But things turned out very differently.

The text for “Pasión Tango”, written by Heidrun Maya Hagn, is totally enthralling. Mercedes Echerer gives a captivating performance, as do cellist Friedrich Kleinhapl and pianist Andreas Woyke. Their passionate, virtuosic interpretations of the tango have earned them standing ovations around the world.
