Considered the foremost singer of classical Persian music, Shahram Nazeri was born in Kermanshah, Iran, in 1950, and was one of the first artists to set to music the poems of the Sufi mystic Rumi. He has won a multitude of distinctions, including the Living Legend Award from the University of California, and was invested as Chevalier in the Ordre des Arts et Lettres by the Republic of France. Tonight he and his ensemble make their first appearance at MuTh.
