Delightful French neo-classicism and Vienna classics - TrioVanBeethoven in the MuTh

* abgespielt

Befitting his station as the “Father of the piano trio”, this excursion from Vienna to Paris and back begins with Haydn. On the first leg of our journey, we hear his rather unusual Trio in E major — classical with hints of jazz! Next we hear the voice of a female composer who is much less well-known than she should be: Germaine Tailleferre. Her delightful piano trio has something of the style of Maurice Ravel, who she knew personally. Our return flight to Vienna concludes with — who else? — Franz Schubert.

Joseph Haydn: Piano Trio in E major, Hob. XV:28
Germaine Tailleferre: Piano Trio (1916/17)
