The opening concert of the 2013 Schubert Festival
The Vienna Young Philharmonic / W.A. Mozart: excerpts from

* abgespielt

Two masterpieces -both “un po’ misterioso” – in the same programme. Whereas Mozart’s opera leaves many questions open to interpretation, Schubert had certainly not planned on an “unfinished” piece. What he might have envisaged and gone on to compose can now be heard here in Vienna for the first time.
Brian Newbould has reconstructed the symphony’s scherzo and has taken incidental music from “Rosamunde” as the possible fourth movement.

W.A. Mozart: “The Magic Flute” – overture and Pamina’s aria, “Ach ich fühl’s”, KV 620
„Non temer amato bene“, the aria for Idomeneo, KV 490

F. Schubert: Symphony No. 8 in B Minor, D 759 (“the Unfinished”)
with scherzo (completed by Brian Newbould)
and Incidental Music No. 1 from “Rosamunde”, D 797, as a finale.
