Three times three – Masterpieces for piano trio
Altenburger, Demenga and students from the mdw play Mozart, Shostakovich and Brahms

* abgespielt

Christian Altenburger and his musical companions present masterpieces of piano literature by Mozart, Shostakovich and Brahms. These pieces date from very different musical epochs, but they share common qualities: each of them demonstrates a harmonic balance between the three voices, and each embodies a fully realised dramatic arc, qualities which give these compositions their striking tonal character. For Christian Altenburger, the instrumentation also makes an important contribution. “Violin, cello and piano are the perfect combination. The possibilities in sound which this instrumentation offers has brought fresh inspiration to composers throughout musical history.”
