Schubert and Brahms – two all-round musical geniuses who produced Lieder, symphonies, major works for piano and important choral pieces. The Viennese master is represented here by the Symphony he scored for a small, almost chamber-sized orchestra, and by a dramatic choral cantata. The master from Hamburg is represented by his first major success. Following her brilliant Tchaikovsky concert, this is another chance to hear pianist Anna Volovitch tackling a substantial programme again with the Vienna Young Philharmonic.
