This marvellous cycle, led by Volkhard Steude, features encounters with
three different pianists. The music on offer includes classics by
Ludwig van Beethoven and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, great works from the
Romantic period by Johannes Brahms, César Franck and Robert Schumann, and
well-known delights from the virtuoso violin literature, including pieces by composers such as Camille Saint-Saëns, Maurice Ravel and Fritz Kreisler. Also planned is an evening of chamber music with friends from the Philharmonic Volkhard Steude has been Concertmaster of the Wiener Staatsoper orchestra since 1994, as well as Concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic since 2000.
He has appeared as a soloist with the Vienna Philharmonic under Giuseppe Sinopoli, Daniel Barenboim and Tugan Sokhiev, and numerous other solo engagements have taken him to Europe and Japan.
Volkhard Steude plays a 1714 Stradivarius (ex Smith – Querson), made available to him by the Austrian National Bank (Österreichische Nationalbank).
