Benefit matinée including art auction, buffet lunch, tombola and children’s games

“We want to perform Shakespeare!” This was what everyone in the Vienna Children’s Theatre wanted to do in 2014. Their 2012 and 2013 pieces –  “Der Verschwender” (the spendthrift) by Ferdinand Raimund and “Das Sparschwein” (the Piggy Bank) by Eugène Labiche – had a rather serious background; the children grappled with the topics of the financial crisis, wastefulness and greed. The plot twists and turns in William Shakespeare’s magnificent comedy of identity “Was ihr wollt” (Twelfth Night). There won’t be a dry eye in the house as we follow the errors that beset Duke Orsino and Countess Olivia in their imaginary country of Illyria.
