The six cellists of Celloversum take us on a journey through the ages. Travelling in time from the Renaissance to the present day, they showcase the instrument’s vast range of colours and its remarkable versatility. The programme embraces Gesualdo’s mystical, spiritual “Spheres”, the passionate rhythms and cantilenas of Bizet and Bernstein, and the groove-infused compositions of Matthias Bartolomey. The players demonstrate orchestral power and intensity, but also a subtlety and intimacy more closely associated with chamber music.
