WTF – WHAT THE FUGUE?

“What the Fugue?” The Pool of Invention’s “New Piano Trio” offer a previously unheard take on that most exalted of disciplines in baroque musical composition: the fugue.

In a previous piece, “Fuga in Odd“, Florian Willeitner fused strict counterpoint with the rhythmic fire of Balkan music. Now he has taken this concept further. The preludes and fugues presented here are new compositions; they pay homage to the individual musical languages of various composers from the past and the present day.
