ALLES GUTE ZUM GEBURTSTAG, ANTON BRUCKNER! (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANTON BRUCKNER!)
A chamber music gem from a master symphonist
Chamber music | Concert | Adults
Anton Bruckner, born 200 years ago, left behind a single complete chamber music work: a string quintet. In contrast to Schubert, Bruckner chose to double the viola rather than the cello in this piece, following in the footsteps of Mozart with his six quintets. The heart of Bruckner’s quintet is the third movement—a sweeping Adagio, rich with expressive warmth and marked by the unique characteristics of the great symphonist.
As a prelude, Benjamin Schmid and Matthias Bartolomey, along with their young musical colleagues, will delve into the world of Mozart’s quintets.
