BOULEVARD DER HELDEN (BOULEVARD OF HEROES)
From life’s illusions to great moments
Literature | Concert | Reading | Adults
With his signature narrative flair, Michael Köhlmeier brings to life the icons and legends of our time. He recounts why the legendary jazz pianist Thelonious Monk went to prison for a friend, how a chess duel unfolded between the greats Bob Dylan and Bobby Fischer, and shares stories of Marilyn Monroe, Max Schmeling, Ignaz Semmelweis, and the first lady of jazz, Ella Fitzgerald. Köhlmeier’s modern-day heroic tales, though grounded in fact, are artfully woven in a literary style. They explore themes of genius, madness, life’s illusions and extraordinary moments. These captivating stories will be enhanced by the jazz sounds of pianist Martin Gasselsberger and saxophonist Klaus Dickbauer.
