There may be few clear aesthetic connections between Pauline Oliveros (1932-2016) – the trailblazing electronic music pioneer, composer, accordionist, and creator of “deep listening” – and Daniel Riegler, founder of Studio Dan, trombonist, and composer. However, both are linked through Riegler’s leadership of the ensemble, which shares ties with many figures of the American avant-garde. Will this be an evening of contrasts? Perhaps. But the occasion is the celebration of the 20th anniversary of our ensemble – Ceremony! The first part of the event features Pauline Oliveros’ sonic meditations, designed to elevate consciousness, while the second part bursts with Daniel Riegler’s composition for “his Studio Dan,” an exuberant musical answer to the provocative question: “Who cares if we don’t care?”

Amuse-Gueule
As a tantalising introduction, much like an amuse-gueule from the kitchen, we offer an ear-opening warm-up session to whet your appetite for the upcoming concert. In the hour leading up to each performance, we invite curious audience members to join us at the heart of the ensemble. Together, we’ll dive into captivating highlights from the programme, giving visitors a unique, immersive listening experience right alongside the musicians. Start: 18:15 (free of charge).

Biglietto sospeso – The Soliticket
Inspired by the wonderful Neapolitan tradition of caffè sospeso, where the buyer of a cup of coffee financially supports the cup of an unknown fellow customer in a gesture of solidarity, we present the Biglietto sospeso for the concerts in the YOU BETTER LISTEN! series. It’s essentially a one-for-two deal!
