THE CONCERT IN THE NEW YEAR
Start the year with the Vienna Boys Choir
Vienna Boys' Choir | Concert | Young people | Adults | Family
The Vienna Boys Choir would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year – and naturally enough, they express their feelings through their music. The lucky audience will hear Mozart’s “Kleiner Nachtmusik“ (A Little Night Music), a wonderfully scary arrangement of Schubert’s Erlkönig (The Erlking), Schumann’s “Zigeunerleben” (The Gypsy Life), as well as a traditional Ukrainian New Year greeting. Of course, there will also be plenty of Strausses to go round: the Emperor Waltz, the Tritsch-Tratsch Polka, and Dorfschwalben aus Österreich (Village Swallows from Austria). In addition to music from the King of the Waltz, we will also hear compositions from his younger brother Josef – who not only wrote some 300 waltzes and polkas, but also invented a practical and efficient road sweeping machine. His Polka “Heiterer Muth” (Stay Cheerful) is bound to get the New Year off to a good start, especially here at MuTh. “Stay cheerful” – that’s an excellent motto for the whole year ahead!
