DAS LEBEN FÜR DIE MUSIK (LIFE FOR MUSIC)
Beethoven between heaven and hell
Chamber music | Literature | Reading | Adults
“Oh! ye who think or declare me to be hostile, morose and misanthropical, how unjust you are, and how little you know the secret cause of what appears thus to you!” With these words, Ludwig van Beethoven begins his profound “Heiligenstadt Testament,” a letter in which he confides his despair over his increasing deafness, contemplates death, but ultimately chooses life and art. Cornelius Obonya will give voice to this emotionally charged letter, while Matthias Schorn, along with Ania and Sophie Druml, will let Beethoven speak through music – performing trios where the clarinet takes centre stage.
