When King Hildebrand sets off to defend his fairytale kingdom, his three daughters are left behind. Behind the door of a forbidden room, they discover the Book of Destiny.
The book prophesies that two of the princesses will become princes, but that the youngest princess will marry a pig! But it soon becomes clear that the grunting, mud-loving animal is an enchanted prince! Brave and self-confident, the princess sets off on a journey around the world and fears no danger to free her beloved from his curse.
Along the way, she learns a lot about love, friendship, the moon, witches and, of course, pigs! With his opera composed in 2006, Jonathan Dove has created a fast-paced, funny and poetic piece of musical theatre for the whole family.
