DER VERLOGENE HEURIGE UND ANDERE KALAMITÄTEN (THE DISHONEST WINE TAVERN AND OTHER CATASTROPHES)
Karl Markovics reads tales of eating, drinking, and the perils of over-indulgence

In the TV series “Babylon Berlin”, Karl Markovics plays an Austrian journalist whose character’s personality has something in common with the subjects of the stories he recounts this evening. StorIes which tell how life can finish us off before the proper time has arrived. It’s all about eating and drinking …
“Restaurants provide an opportunity for landlords to play the host, guests to place their orders, and waiters to eat”, noted Karl Kraus. Markovics serves up literary offerings from Alfred Polgar, Josef Roth, Anton Kuh, Friedrich Torberg, Kraus and others – plenty to delight the palate and bring a smile to our faces. The Oberösterreichischen Concert-Schrammeln ensemble provide the musical accompaniment, dispensing a fine selection of tasty nibbles — a long way from the usual Heurige fare.
Texte von ALFRED POLGAR, JOSEF ROTH, ANTON KUH, FRIEDRICH TORBERG, KARL KRAUS u.a., Musik von JOHANN SCHRAMMEL, FRANZ SCHUBERT, ROBERT STOLZ, JOSEF MIKULAS u.a.
