“Current salary models fail to reflect the full scope of artistic work, focusing solely on performances while neglecting the broader workload. Existing social insurance systems do not provide adequate security, either during active careers or in retirement. A meaningful first step could be the expansion of unemployment benefits, which have proven effective as a safety net for the small number of artists who qualify and which, in practice, function much like a basic income. Extending such support, awarded in line with defined criteria or by expert committees, could offer a sustainable solution to significantly reduce precarious employment in the arts.”

Forum Zukunft:Kunst is a project created for artists of all genres, artistically minded people and everyone with an interest in art. It will feature lectures on current topics from the art world by researchers and well-known personalities from the art industry, followed by a joint debate, networking opportunities and shared workshops that foster ongoing learning.
