HOMMAGES ZWISCHEN WORT UND TON – HOMAGES BETWEEN WORD AND SOUND

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was an early exponent of the view that, of all instruments, the clarinet is closest to the human voice. The first part of this concert, which features a chamber configuration of voice, clarinet and piano, centres on Louis Spohr’s Six German Songs, juxtaposed with the German songs of Edvard Grieg. The three musicians aim here is to help the audience experience how voice and instrument blend together; then, in the second part of the concert, they perform homages to highlight the contrast between instrumental work and vocal interpretation.
