Caruso, the famous musical tomcat from Switzerland, is giving a tour concert in Vienna. The Empress, having seen Caruso the cat depicted as a detective on a poster, is convinced that only he can help her recover her stolen favourite diamond. She sends Herbert Lippert, her court opera singer, to the concert to assess Caruso’s skills. Though Herbert’s intention is merely to observe, Caruso immediately recognizes him as a singer and invites him to join the performance. Herbert’s awkward and peculiar behaviour on stage causes Caruso, Tobias, and Stefan to question whether he is truly a serious singer.
In the end, Herbert reveals that he is testing Caruso as a detective on behalf of the desperate Empress. Deeply impressed by Caruso’s detective prowess, he requests his assistance in solving the case.
