KULTURMITTAG (ARTS AT LUNCHTIME)

The young Cuore Piano Trio, established in Poland, focuses on the works of its fellow countrymen. Although Franciszek Lessel and Ludomir Różycki are unknown to many, they are among the greatest Polish composers. The Piano Trio in E major op. 5 composed by Lessel, a pupil of Haydn, and Różycki’s Rhapsody op. 33 are undoubted proof of this. Next up is Brahms’ Piano Quartet No. 3 in C minor, Op. 60, a beloved piece reminiscent of Goethe’s The Sorrows of Young Werther. The acclaimed violinist Christian Altenburger appears as the fourth member of the quartet – this time on viola.
