Lieber Saxophon zeitgenössisch (contemporary saxophone)
Composer friends writing for us | Curated by Gerald Preinfalk
Chamber music | New music | Concert | Adults
The saxophone can do more than wail in a jazz club and dance along with the orchestra in Ravel’s “Bolero”. But to bring this out requires composers who are ready to write works which set new challenges for the instrument. One such is Bernhard Lang, a friend of Gerald Preinfalk, who is known for the compositions he has created with the aid of algorithms; and another is his younger Spanish colleague, Javier Quislant. Here are two musical languages which Preinfalk values enormously, to which Preinfalk himself responds as a composer.
