MARIA RADUTU: JOUJOUX
A playful start
Chamber music | Concert | Adults
Maria Radutu’s debut album “Joujoux” is a story narrated through the medium of piano, a story which takes us to different places in European musical history and leads us through different styles of European music. The former child prodigy built her programme around Mihail Jora’s delicate piano suite “Joujoux pour ma Dame”. First performed in Vienna in 1924, the suite comprises five short, dance-like seductive puzzles, in which Jora captures the most diverse musical styles of his time. Radutu takes the concept one step further. She adds some scintillating Ravel, and a pulsating Bartok; an energetic Chopin, with a deep, emotional Liszt; and a fine, minimalist Schönberg, followed by a Ligeti etude with an emphatic groove. Her playing seems to transform the keys into fascinating toys: “Joujoux”
The pre-concert wine tasting:
VINS DE VIVRE – Joujoux is a project Maria developed in her youth, and is her most frequently performed programme. The wines selected for this first concert in her new series promise to match Joujoux in their energy, freshness and brilliance.
The wine tasting takes place an hour and a half before the concert, and is open to all who subscribe to the GLASWEISE KLASSIKER cycle. The wine tasting is not included in tickets purchased for this individual concert.
