MY POET’S LOVE
Settings of Rilke and Heine | mathias rüegg
Jazz | Lieder & singing | Concert | Adults
Lia Pale and mathias rüegg write five imaginary love letters to Heinrich Heine and Rainer Maria Rilke: “My poet’s love”. This is the title of their second collaboration. Rüegg has translated seven poems by Heine and seven by Rilke into English and set them to music. “Lyricism instead of lyrics”, wrote jazz journalist Peter Rüedi, “Lia Pale takes on the fragile, seeming casualness of standards and floats above the pitfalls of pathos. The compositions of mathias rüegg suggest orchestral music moulded to suit voice and jazz ensemble. Their wit and humour bring a lightness and a poetic multiplicity of meaning to even the most serious of times.”
mathias rüegg, Rilke-Vertonungen: „Between Day & Dream“, „Only the Girls“, „Where begins the Night?“, „Seven Pages of Loneliness“, „Earnest Hour, You
