“Nastrovje” with Rachmaninoff “Nastrovje” with Rachmaninow
Great pictures for romantic souls | Curated by Maria Radutu
Chamber music | Concert | Specials | Adults
Moscow and St. Petersburg: since 1901, Sergei Rachmaninov’s second piano concerto has been a popular favourite among aficionados of Late Romantic classical music. Now Maria Radutu and Jimmy Chiang show that it can sound even more intimate when played on two pianos.
Modest Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” was composed in St. Petersburg in 1874. Here the pictures parade through our imaginations in a very unusual instrumentation. The work was originally composed for piano, and made famous by Maurice Ravel’s orchestral arrangement. Now Nikola Djoric applies fresh colours to the images with his accordion rendition.
For those who have booked the hosted wine tasting as part of the CLASSICS BY THE GLASS cycle:
Wines full of feeling: full, velvety droplets, to suit all kinds of occasions and match every emotion.
