ORCHESTRA E CORO MAGISTER HARMONIAE – NEDERLANDS JEUGD STRIJKORKEST

The first half of the concert features a large ensemble from Turin, Orchestra E Coro Magister Harmoniae. The orchestra and choir are conducted by Elena Gallafrio. Their programme includes film music from Morricone to Zimmer. They perform soundtracks which helped create cinematic universes such as those we see in Game of Thrones, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Once upon a Time in America. The second half of the concert features a Dutch string orchestra, conducted by Carel den Hertog. Each year the Nederlands Jeugd Strijkorkest presents a repertoire which combines classics from the string orchestra literature with an eclectic mix of modern pieces. For their performance at MuTh, the orchestra performs modern compositions by Meijering and Andriessen alongside works by Beethoven and Mendelsohn.
