Introducing young talent from the Augarten Campus

Choral music | Concert | Family

Enjoy a special matinee by two choirs from the Augarten Campus on the second Sunday in Advent at the invitation of District Head Alexander Nikolai.
The Chorus Primus training choir sings new songs from different cultures and the Christmas classic Christrose by Robert Stolz; the Vienna Choir Girls present songs by Purcell, Schubert and Mendelssohn as well as Christmas songs by Benjamin Britten. Together, the two choirs sing songs that tell of the hope for peace and the power of music – and the song of the Torres Strait Islanders’ kingfisher with its own choreography.

The Chorus Primus (conductor: Kirlianit Cortes-Galvez) is formed by the pupils in fourth grade at the Vienna Boys Choir Music School. With 10 hours of music lessons per week, they are a professional children’s choir. The Vienna Girls Choir (director: Stefan Foidl) is the girls’ choir of Campus Augarten, founded in 2004; the 29 young ladies rehearse two to three times a week and are taught using the same methods as the Vienna Boys Choir.
