CAULFIELD GRAMMAR SCHOOL – CHAMBER STRINGS
Chamber Strings is an auditioned ensemble comprising students of secondary school age who attend the two senior campuses of Caulfield Grammar School in Melbourne, Australia. They rehearse weekly under the direction of conductor Jason Leinkauf and work with top-flight visiting artists on a regular basis through their ‘Artist In Residence’ programme. The group has performed at venues including Melbourne Concert Hall, the Melbourne Recital Centre, and St. Paul’s Cathedral in Melbourne. The orchestra performs work by Mozart, Sibelius, and Vivaldi, as well as modern pieces.
CAULFIELD GRAMMAR SCHOOL – COMBINED CORELLI & SUTHERLAND STRINGS
Corelli & Sutherland Strings is a string orchestra which combines the talents of students in years 7 to 12 from the Caulfield and Wheelers Hill campuses of Caulfield Grammar School. Put together specifically for this 2026 European tour, the ensemble, under the direction of Oscar Woinarski and David Summerton, has prepared a programme of considerable variety in a short space of time. These young musicians blend their commitment and curiosity with the joy of making music together and participating in the international exchange experience.
LA SALLE COLLEGE STRING ORCHESTRA
The La Salle College String Orchestra is the latest musical ensemble to be formed at this Hong Kong school. It has developed into an outstanding musical group in a short space of time. Comprised of more than 40 selected string players, the orchestra is led by former student and now conductor John Sit. The players’ commitment and musical talent guided them to win the orchestral Gold Prize at the Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows competition, as well as First Prize at the Hong Kong Schools 2026 Music Festival. The orchestra performs works from the European classical repertoire, garnished with some of their homeland’s musical delicacies.
LA SALLE COLLEGE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The La Salle College Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2003 and is now widely recognised as one of Hong Kong’s foremost school orchestras.
In that time it has grown from a 20-player ensemble into a powerful orchestra comprising more than 90 musicians. Under the direction of conductor Kelvin Ngai, the orchestra combines high musical standards with a culture of mutual support and encouragement. Its most recent achievements include success at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and winning Gold Prizes at the Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows competition. The programme includes a piece by the young composer Alma Deutscher.
