THE GOSPEL PEOPLE

“The Gospel People” were founded by Gospel Concert Management and Charles W. Creath in 2011. After his death in 2020, lead singer Owen Nixon took over as musical director.
He has a deep love for the church, holds a spiritual office and supports various initiatives, including performing as a soloist with the “All City Chorus of the City of Portsmouth.” In his earlier years, he was also an a cappella solo vocalist and holds a Bachelor of Music with a specialisation in media studies. Alongside him, Brandon Landrum (keyboards and vocals) is a permanent member of the band. The legend continues with the singers who joined the cast in 2022 – Toneisha Jones Harris (alto), who has previously played roles on Broadway, including Shug Avery in “The Color Purple” and Oda Mae Brown in “Ghost, The Musical”. She was the highest-placed African-American singer in the history of NBC’s “The Voice” in 2020. Her colleague Madyson “Symphony” McSwain (soprano) has recently released her debut album and has previously appeared on stage with the incredible Adam Blackstone to celebrate his Emmy win. As a tribute to the unforgettable Deirdre Valentine “Big Mama”, the internationally acclaimed worship songwriter Jessica Fox (alto) was brought on board as her replacement. This year, Demarkis Vinson will stand in for Ernest Meredith (drums), who was unable to take part at short notice.
