CAUTION! WET PAINT! VIENNA, WITH A NEW LOOK!

A musical stroll through our local neighbourhood: The music of Vienna … It’s immediately recognisable, from the very first bar. But what exactly is it? What makes it what it is? And most of all: does it still exist? Or does “the music of Vienna” mean Schubert, Lanner and Strauss – and did it die with them? Definitely not, say Messrs Neuwirth and Theissing. Suddenly, this short stroll has turned into something much longer. It stretches down through time, across many generations, all the way to here and now.  The wonderful Wiener Theatermusiker are part of this tradition. The First Violin places her bow … They start to play … Oh, this Lanner piece is marvellous! And so is this Schubert! Then, suddenly – CAUTION! WET PAINT! What’s all this about? VIENNA, WITH A NEW LOOK!
